چکیده
Introduction: Carbapenem resistance in Gram-negative bacilli (GNB) is a major concern the management of resistant infections. The mechanism carbapenem most commonly mediated by carbapenemases. five common genes (NDM, KPC, VIM, OXA, and IMP) are responsible for carbapenemase production. Knowledge these important disease. Objective: To estimate prevalence different production GNB at tertiary healthcare centre South India. Method: In this retrospective study, samples were collected over 16 months. Carbapenem-resistant underwent to Xpert Carba-R assay (Cepheid, Sunnyvale, California, USA) detection production: NDM, IMP. Results: Out 184 carbapenem-resistant GNB, 20 not included study. rest 164 grew Klebsiella pneumoniae (152), Escherichia coli (10), Enterobacter (2). OXA-48 NDM responsible, with 137 (84.5%) 95 (58.6%), respectively. Among them, 70 (43.2%) showed presence both genes, 1 (0.6%) OXA-48, VIM. Individually, 66 (40.7%) 24 (14.8%) one authors did find IMP or KPC genes. Conclusion: As result limited options higher cost antibiotics infections, knowledge helps selection rational use reduces will prevent mortality morbidity from

Prevalence and Haemolytic Significance of Red Cell Antibodies among Dangerous Universal Donors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India
Background and Aims: A subgroup of group O individuals called ‘dangerous universal donors’ have immune (IgG) anti A and anti B antibodies which are active at 37˚C and capable of reacting with the red cells and causing lysis. The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of dangerous O group among the voluntary donor population and to assess the relation between the degree of haemolysis and t...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization of Invasive Carbapenem-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii from a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India
INTRODUCTION Acinetobacter baumannii is an important opportunistic pathogen responsible for causing nosocomial infections. Carbapenems are considered to be the drug of choice to treat infections caused by multidrug-resistant A. baumannii. The prevalent mechanism of carbapenem resistance in A. baumannii is enzymatic degradation by β-lactamases. Therefore, the aim of the study is to determine the...
متن کاملDetection of Metallo-Beta-lactamase Production in Rare Carbapenem-Resistant Non-fermentative Gram-Negative Bacilli Isolated in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Visakhapatnam, India
Introduction: Non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB) are occasionally involved in infectious diseases pathology, but have shown resistance to multiple antibiotics and the capability to gain new resistance factors in the hospital environment. The present study was aimed to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of rare NFGNB isolated from different clinical samples and the pre...
متن کاملblaKPC gene Detection in Clinical Isolates of Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae in a Tertiary Care Hospital.
INTRODUCTION Carbapenem resistance among Enterobacteriaceae, especially in Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli, is an emerging problem worldwide. A common mechanism of carbapenem resistance is the production of class-A, Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC). AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The present study focused on determining the antibiotic resistance pattern and prevalence of bla KPC gene...
